Secondhand Bookshop
The Guild’s Secondhand Bookshop is located in the Guild Courtyard opposite Curtin Concept. It provides a textbook exchange service that enables you to sell
your old textbooks and purchase cheap copies of next semester’s books. The store also carries a range of safety equipment - including lab coats and safety glasses.
There are now additional display shelves, which enables the Secondhand Bookshop to now cater for more members and handle a larger turnover of course material
and other books. There is also an online service on the Guild website which allows you to view what books are available and the state of your contract.
Purchase your course text from the Secondhand Bookshop and you will receive a minimum of 33% off the original retail price of the book. You may lodge your
unwanted textbooks at the store and when they sell you may come and collect the proceeds of the sale. The store only retains a small commission to cover the
administrative costs in order to keep this vital service operating. Full Guild Members receive a 25% reduction off the commission rate. The store is not restricted to
course text. Fictional books can also be traded at the store. The following commission rates are retained for administration purposes:15% for Full Guild Members,
20% for non-Guild Members.
The Secondhand Bookshop varies its trading hours throughout the year in order to cater for our students needs. Listed below are the trading hours for 2008. Extended trading hours are run for the first two weeks of each semester.
*Please note that during the first 2 weeks of semester we are unable to take new books after 4PM
Standard Opening Hours: 10am – 4pm Monday to Friday
Extended Trading Hours: 9.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday
Non-Teaching Weeks: 10.30am – 2pm Monday to Friday
Closed: 08/12/08 – 05/01/09, 09/04/09 – 17/04/09, 22/06/09 – 2/06/09, 04/12/09 – 04/01/10
