The Curtin branch of AAPG is part of a larger organisation, and is interested in spreading the ideals of this overarching group. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is a community of geologists and geophysicists.
The goal of this AAPG branch is to foster and nurture an interest in geological studies. With a focus on preparing the student body for life in the work force, we aim to provide students with the right information, and ready them for the transition from university to industry. With members studying Geology, Geophysics and Petroleum Engineering, we aim to bridge the gap between these faculties, and introduce new members to their peers.
Following with AAPG’s overarching goal to unite the scientific community of petroleum geologists, we aim to encourage a community within the students at Curtin. Success in your studies comes not only from yourself, but from the conversations you have with your peers. Having a chance to meet your classmates out of the classroom setting is invaluable, and will help new students settle into Curtin. With the connections provided by AAPG, we aim to have these students meet not only fellow students, but industry professionals and graduate students. This extra stepping stone is here to give an edge to eager students, as we provide a chance to meet potential employers.
