Curtin Opportunity International

‘If opportunity doesn’t knock then build a door’.

There are approximately 2.4 billion people around the world who lives on less than $2 per day. Opportunity International is a not-for-profit organisation that helps families of developing countries living in poverty to start a small business so that they can earn an income and afford food, shelter, clean water and education for their children. By providing small loans to families in poverty through Opportunity International, we can help them leave poverty behind. With a repayment rate of 98%, loans are then recycled and lent on to other families, maximising the impact of donations over time and creating a ripple effect within their families and communities.

Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for these families in poverty. In doing so, we aim to promote awareness of both the issue of poverty and how microfinancing can be used as a tool to bring people out of poverty. Our vision is a world in which all people have the opportunity to achieve a life free from poverty, with dignity and purpose.

Joining this club will give you the opportunity to volunteer, build friendships with like-minded people across different faculties, release the reins on your creativity, develop your leadership skills and make a difference in the world. Sign up today to help us build the doors for families in poverty and in turn, break the cycle of poverty.
